On January 23, 2023, Mr. EVKS Elangovan, Congress candidate, the unfortunate demise of whose son necessitated the by poll in Erode East Constituency, visited MNM chief Mr. Kamal Haasan to seek his support for the by -election scheduled for February 27, 2023.
Following the visit, Mr. Kamal Haasan, held a meeting with the Executive Committee members of MNM to discuss and decide on the party's stance.
On January 25, 2023, Mr. Kamal Haasan announced his 'unconditional support' to Mr. EVKS Elangovan for the upcoming by-poll.
Further to the decision, MNM President Mr. Kamal Haasan will campaign for Mr. Elangovan in Erode, on February 19th. The decision to support the Congress candidate arose from the necessity to stop divisive forces from gaining ground in Thamizhnaadu.
