16 Tamil fishermen arrested by Srilankan Navy!
Will the Centre step forward to support & address the continuing woes of the fishermen?
The Vice President of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Mr. R. Thangavelu voices out!
12 fishermen from Akkaraipettai, were arrested near Kodiyakarai by the Srilankan Navy. Similarly, 4 fishermen from Kottaipattinam, Pudhukottai District, who went deep sea fishing were also arrested. Their Motor boats were seized.
Arresting the fishermen and seizing their boats have become a regular feature these days .
Even after repeated demands and requests, the Srilankan Navy continues its horrendous actions.
With no support from the government and no resources to lean on, the fisherfolk of Tamilnadu feel abandoned and neglected.
Makkal Needhi Maiam, demands that the Centre should step up and find a permanent solution to help wipe out the woes of TN fishermen.
